Dr Mike Bruorton
Background
Prior to studying Medicine, Mike spent 2 years in the Army (Infantry) and then 3 years working in Game reserves in South Africa and Botswana. He then studied at the University of Natal, achieving degrees in Zoology and went on to work in the Zoology Department for 3 years, teaching undergraduates, lecturing and participating in research programmes. He then decided to make the change to Medicine, and studied at the University of the Witwatersrand, achieving MBBCh in 1997. Mike and his family then moved to England, where he obtained MRCGP. This was followed by a move to Australia, landing on Australia day 2002 and moving directly to join Hawkins Clinic in Mt Gambier, where he has worked and lived happily ever since!

From the start of 2024 Dr Bruorton will cease routine GP consulting and concentrate just on Skin cancer medicine and his skin cancer clinic.
